CIRA’s nomination committee selects candidates for the board of directors election; Applications for the member slate now open

Ottawa, ON – July 29, 2021 – CIRA’s nomination committee has selected five candidates from across Canada with a broad mix of experience and qualifications necessary for the management of the .CA domain. Here are the five candidates:

  • Liza Aboud – Burnaby, BC
  • Gwen Beauchemin – Ottawa, ON
  • Sergei Beliaev – Toronto, ON
  • Anne Butler – Ottawa, ON
  • Ron Collins – Oakville, ON
  • Eric Hill – Halifax, NS
  • Bill Sandiford – Whitby, ON

CIRA was pleased by the extraordinary interest in this year’s election cycle. The nomination committee received over 100 applications from highly-qualified candidates across the country. Learn more about the nomination committee candidates here.

Call for member slate nominations

Now, CIRA is looking for applications to the member slate on the board of directors. Qualified CIRA members interested in joining the board can apply for the members’ slate of candidates from 2 p.m. ET on July 29, 2021 to 2 p.m. ET on August 12, 2021 at www.cira.ca/election

This will be followed by a Show of Support period starting August 26, 2021 and ending on September 9, 2021. Member nominees must receive at least 20 shows of support from members to become a final candidate in the Board of Directors election. The board of directors election vote runs from September 23, 2021 until September 30, 2021.

Voting for CIRA’s board of directors

To be eligible to vote, .CA holders must be CIRA members before the end of the day on September 2, 2021 (21 days before the start of the voting period), and remain an active member at the time they cast their vote.
