THE PROJECT

Connected North links Indigenous youth in remote communities with experiences and opportunities that would otherwise be challenging to access locally through real-time, high definition, interactive video sessions, allowing youth and their teachers to access mental health and well-being services, mentoring, museums and art galleries, native language instruction, teacher professional learning, digital skills training, and more.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

With funding from CIRA, Connected North created new resources to build the digital literacy skills and confidence of the 1,200+ educators they serve and saw a dramatic increase in the number of schools they worked with, going from 65 to 118 schools by the end of 2021. The newly developed digital sessions played a crucial role in advancing the project’s mission of providing Northern Indigenous youth access to culturally relevant digital resources during the pandemic.
