THE PROJECT

As a non-profit with a mission of building a network of “catalysts” – changemakers, social entrepreneurs, activists, communities, and organizations – CatalystsX sought CIRA funding to support the development of digital literacy resources and tools to meet the IT and remote working needs in First Nation communities in northern Ontario. CatalystsX created a Digital Literacy Toolkitwith resources for these communities that face common barriers to develop skills in using the internet confidently and safely.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

The toolkit is widely available through their networks spanning the Thunder Bay and Algoma regions, serving over 35,000 Northern Indigenous individuals – and it was so popular they ran out of printed copies in their first month.
