Show your support for member nominees
Member nominees must receive at least 20 shows of support from Members to become a final candidate in the board of directors election. Only Members can endorse a Member nominee during the show of support period.
Show of support is open from August 30 to September 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. ET.
CIRA will send an email to each eligible Member on August 30, 2018 at approximately 2 p.m. ET containing a voter ID and PIN number.
If you do not receive the email containing your voter ID and PIN number, and have verified that you are a Member eligible to vote, contact a CIRA Representative at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Participate in the campaign forum
The campaign forum in an online platform that facilitates discussions between candidates and members. Get to know the candidates by engaging in discussions about key points in their election platforms, issues affecting .CA, and the Internet in Canada and abroad. The campaign forum will help you make an informed decision when casting your vote in the board of directors election.
The forum is open from September 20 to September 27, 2018. Chat with the candidates during an online “Town Hall” on September 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET. This is an ideal time to ask candidates questions and get immediate responses.
As a Member, voting for a candidate lets you choose the leaders of an organization that plays direct role in developing strategy and policy for the .CA domain. Our work impacts everything from the security of our online interactions to the strength of our digital economy. With a simple click of a button, your contribution will help influence the development and direction of the Internet in Canada.
Voting will be done through an online ballot:
- 3 directors will be elected from the final nomination committee slate.
- 1 director will be elected from the final members' slate.
CIRA will send an email to each eligible Member on September 27, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET containing a voter ID and PIN number.
If you do not receive the email containing your voter ID and PIN number and have verified that you are a Member eligible to vote, contact a CIRA Representative at email@example.com.
Online voting is open from 12:30 p.m. ET on September 27 until 12:30 p.m. ET on October 4, 2018.
Important to know
As per the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act and CIRA's By-law, in order to vote in the 2018 board of directors election, you must have been a CIRA Member at least 21 days prior to the start of voting (specifically, by end of day September 6, 2018) and continue to be a Member at the time you cast your ballot.
